The Lion King: One Family

James the frog ran to Kovu and Kiara. They were not moving and both were wounded. It seemed that they were dead. James said, "I just wanted you to know that I love you. I don't know why you died together but you were true heroes. All you ever wanted was a son to call your own. I'm proud to call you my mother and father. First, he cuddled in their fur for one last time. He turned away and looked towards Pride Rock. Suddenly, Kovu and Kiara awoke. "Did you mean it when you called us your parents?" asked Kovu. James replied, "You betcha!" And following that, Kiara licked James' cheek. James asked, "You really mean it?" Kiara replied, "Yes, son. We really do love you." Kovu and Kiara nuzzled their adoptive son as they also nuzzled each other. James said that he loved his adopted family just as he loved his original family. James asked, "Are you alright?" Kovu replied, "We're a bit wounded, son." James yelled out, "Medic!" Skipper and the penguins immediately arrived and gave Kovu and Kiara immediate care. Simba and the others came to assist their friends and bring them back to Pride Rock and the penguins put bandages on all their wounds. "Poor lions. What a brave thing to do!" said Sarabi. Nala said, "Move over. Give the poor fellas some air!" Simba watched as the penguins cleaned their wounds and healed their injuries. James said, "I don't really think you're fit for fighting those villains." Kovu replied, "You're right, son. If we go into battle, we won't stand a chance." They eventually recovered from their injuries and lived. Their son led the pride hunting, and he was a true leader. As one of the Pridelanders, battling against Scar and the hyenas. Everyone found it hard to believe that one little frog could make such a difference. Later, Kovu and Kiara were crowned the new Lion King and Lion Queen. Not too long after that day, Kiara and Kovu were given permission to reproduce. A few months later, Kiara was a long way into her pregnancy and today seemed like the day. "I can't believe I'll have a stepbrother or stepsister." said James, turning to Kovu. "I know. You seem very nervous." Inside the den, Sarabi, Nala, Sarafina, and Uru all coached her through giving birth. The penguins had their medical tools out. They monitored every moment. Kiara was tired. She felt like sleeping. Uru nuzzled her great granddaughter to comfort her. Vitani, hoping there would be a safe delivery, said, "You have to push harder, Kiara." Skipper said, "Just one last push. Almost there." Kiara said, "I'll do it on the count of three." Kowalski replied, "Okay. One, two, three!" Kiara gave it one last push, in which her stomach emptied. Her labored breathing slowed down. "What is it, Kowalski?" asked Skipper. Kowalski turned to him and replied, "It's a boy." Kiara's motherly instincts immediately took over. She scooted the cub between her arms to give it a thorough bath. The penguins looked at it carefully. It had dark brown fur like Kovu, and a creamy underbelly like Kiara. Outside, James and the male lions looked on nervously. Then, Skipper and the others came out. Skipper said, "You guys really have to see this." Kovu, James, and the lions walked inside the den. The lionesses parted to make way for their leaders. Kiara's eyes met their eyes. She smiled and opened her paws, revealing the newborn heir. James hugged his adoptive mother at the sight of the new cub. "We need a name for him." Skipper said. Kiara said, "How about Jelani? It's a name that means 'Mighty One'." Kovu replied, "That's the perfect name for the next Lion King." A few weeks later, they presented Jelani to the herds. By now, his eyes were open. They were reddish brown, which was true evidence of his royal bloodline. Everyone rejoiced on this day. And so, everyone hoped that Jelani would be a great leader like all the others before him. James, his brother, was the proudest. After the presentation, the lions shared some time with their new leaders and their newborn son. The lionesses soon decided to go on a hunt while the royal family spent their time with Jelani.
